Brazil vs Switzerland lineups: Starting XIs, confirmed team news injury latest for World Cup 2022 game today

Fred has replaced Neymar in the Brazil starting line-up to replace Switzerland at the World Cup this afternoon.

The winger was struck down with an ankle injury in the Selecao’s opening win over Serbia along with right-back Danilo.

While Brazil have an array of attacking talent, no one can quite compare with Neymar in terms of iconic status and Lucas Paqueta will play a more advanced role with Fred partnering Manchester United teammate Casemiro to anchor the midfield.

Eder Militao is preferred to Dani Alves to come in at right-back.

Paqueta and Alisson Becker start despite missing elements of training in the build-up to this afternoon’s meeting with Switzerland.

Probably Brazil’s hardest test in the group so far, doing so without Neymar is an awful lot more difficult.

The Swiss, meanwhile, drop Xherdan Shaqiri for Fabian Rieder.

Brazil XI: Alisson; Militao, Silva, Marquinhos, Alex Sandro; Casemiro, Fred, Paqueta; Vinicius Jr., Raphinha, Richarlison.

Switzerland XI: Sommer; Widmer, Akanji, Elvedi, Rodriguez; Freuler, Xhaka, Rieder, Sow; Embolo, Vargas.
