Breaking: Aston Villa complete Man United transfer as £40m option revealed
Aston Villa have completed the loan signing of Marcus Rashford from Manchester United until the end of the season.
They also hold an option to buy the forward for £40m at the end of his loan and will cover the majority of his wages. Rashford's current contract at Old Trafford — which runs until 2028 — puts him among the club’s top earners at around £325,000 per week.
The 27-year-old emerged as a key target for Unai Emery following the £65m sale of Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr. Villa are also set to sign Marco Asensio on loan to further bolster Emery’s attacking options, though that deal will not include an option to buy and instead an option to extend the loan by another season.

Rashford, who joined United at the age of eight, fell out of favour under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford, with the former Sporting boss previously suggesting that he was not giving maximum effort. The Portuguese later clarified on Wednesday that it was nothing personal.
He started 12 league games earlier this season and contributed with four goals and an assist, while he scored seven and made another two goals last season under Erik ten Hag. Rashford could make his debut for Villa on Sunday when Villa host Tottenham Hotspur in the third round of the FA Cup.
He becomes Villa’s third signing of the winter window following the arrivals of Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund and Andres Garcia from Levante.
