Alfie Dorrington has signed a long-term contract at Tottenham and immediately joined Aberdeen on loan for the remainder of the season. Last signing a contract until 2026 back in June 2023, the academy ace has penned fresh terms until the summer of 2029.

The 19-year-old will now finish the 2024/25 on loan with Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen after departing Tottenham on loan for the very first time. The move north of the border will give the talented centre-back the chance to feature regularly in senior football and get some-much needed experience under his belt ahead of returning to Hotspur Way in the summer.

Dorrington is the latest in a long line of Under-21 stars who have departed the club on loan this season. The centre-back will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Josh Keeley and Jamie Donley who have excelled at Leyton Orient and George Abbott who has really impressed at Notts County.

On his move to Pittodrie, Dorrington told Aberdeen's official website: “It’s amazing to finally be here. Everyone has been so welcoming; it feels like home already. I know it’s a big Club with a lot of history and the supporters are really passionate so it was a no brainer for me.

“As soon as I spoke to the manager and heard about what he wants to achieve here I just wanted to get up here as soon as possible. I believe the way he wants to play will suit my style and he just wants this to be the best part of my career.

“It’s my first loan so I want to start as many games as I can, work hard and I hope I can repay the faith the manager has shown in me.”

Dorrington's debut could possibly come on Wednesday when Aberdeen take on Rangers at Ibrox. The Dons then face Elgin City in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup on Saturday afternoon.
