Brendan Rodgers has urged his Celtic speedsters to continue their blistering start to the campaign and make history.

Celts are flying high with an unbeaten start to the domestic season, an Old Firm Premier Sports Cup Final on the horizon and a Champions League play-off place well in their sights.

However, with a hectic schedule of fixtures now upon them, Rodgers knows better than anyone that it's a marathon not a sprint - but reckons his current pace setters are QUICKER than his legendary Invincible Treble-winning side of 2016/17. He said: "That team I had was super successful and the first season was history-making in terms of what the players did.

"Now it's about this team creating their own history. The team I had first time around were very good in possession, very good in terms of scoring goals, and they were a very strong group mentally.

"This is a different group of personalities, a different generation. It's nearly a decade on and football changes. This team will be faster. I would say there's more speed in this team. The form has been much more like what I would expect.

"When I came in last summer it was probably the first time I'd come into a club where they'd had that success as such. I was coming into a team that had won a Treble and my idea was to observe that team and see how they worked.

"As you go along you make tweaks to fit your own template. By the second half of the season we were in a much better flow. Come the pre-season it allowed me to establish those key principles and ideas we see now. Along with hard work, it hopefully allows you to get that consistency.

"That's a great testament firstly to the players, the coaching staff and then everyone pulling together in that same vision, so we are getting to a consistent level. I'm so pleased with how it's gone but we still have a lot of work to do."
