Brentford star Mathias Jensen tests positive for Covid-19 upon arrival for Denmark World Cup qualifiers

Brentford midfielder Mathias Jensen has tested positive for Covid-19.

Jensen received the positive test for coronavirus after arriving in Denmark, while reporting for international duty this week.

The midfielder will now stay in his home country and undergo a period of isolation, per Government guidelines, before eventually returning to London.

As Jensen’s positive test was at the airport, he did not come into contact with Denmark’s squad ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Scotland, meaning minimal disruption to their plans.

“Mathias Jensen has returned a positive Covid-19 test on duty with Denmark,” Brentford said in a statement.

“He will undergo a period of isolation and then return to London.

“The positive test came at the airport, so Denmark’s international camp won’t be affected.”

Jensen has been a regular for the Bees this season, having featured in the side that won promotion to the Premier League in the summer. Brentford next face Newcastle on Saturday, November 20.
