Hull FC coach Brett Hodgson believes his side are making good progress after their securing back-to-back wins to go fourth in the Super League table.
The Airlie Birds leapfrogged Huddersfield and Hull KR to go fourth in the league table after beating Catalans Dragons 14-8 on Sunday evening.
Hull lost to rivals Hull KR on Good Friday but have since secured impressive wins against Warrington and Catalans.
Hodgson said: “I thought we were again really happy to grind out a performance. It was a really high-quality game with very few errors.
“We probably gave up a little bit too much towards the back end which put us under a bit of pressure but tonight was about just getting the victory in our third game in eight days.
“Both teams were probably a little bit conservative and could have thrown it around a bit more but the third game in quick succession is a war of attrition and battling for field position. Our game plan was executed well and thankfully we got the win.
“The last two performances I’ve been happy with, and we’ve got the results off the back of that.
“I’m confident that we’re progressing but it’s a matter of us being consistent.”
Toulouse next up for Hull FC
Next up for Hull is a home match against strugglers Toulouse at the MKM Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm).
Toulouse head into the match having lost 25-14 at Leeds on Friday. Sylvain Houles’ side have won just one game out of 10 in Super League so far, which came against champions St Helens in the south of France.
Speaking after the game at Headingley, Houles insisted there is still plenty of the season to go as they fight for survival.
He said: “It’s quite disappointing but after this there is still plenty of games to play, plenty of home games for us and they’re the most important I believe.
“It’s a tough period. We played three games in eight days and when you count all the travelling we’ve done, it’s one of them things.
“I don’t really understand why we played on Friday, in this period it is already tough enough and I don’t understand why we couldn’t play on a Sunday.”
