Brian Ortega vs. Hacran Dias Added to UFC Fight Night 96 in Portland

Brian Ortega Doubles Up on UFC Fight Night 123 Post-Fight Bonuses

A premier featherweight showdown between rising contenders Brian Ortega and Hacran Dias has been inked for UFC Fight Night 96 in Portland.

UFC officials confirmed the fight on Wednesday, following an initial report by the Los Angeles Daily News.

Former RFA champion Ortega (11-0, 1 NC) scored a victory in his Octagon debut in 2014, but had the result changed to a no-contest when he tested positive to drostanolone, an anabolic steroid.

Since returning from suspension, he has managed to keep his undefeated record intact, reeling off wins over high profile fighters Thiago Tavares, Diego Brandao, and Clay Guida, etching his name in the UFC featherweight Top 10 rankings.

Dias (23-4-1) has bounced back and forth between wins and losses, going 3-3 during his UFC tenure. He enters the fight with Ortega trying to make a big leap up the rankings, coming off of a loss to Cub Swanson in April.

Though UFC Fight Night 96 doesn't yet have an official headliner, the Oct. 1 card also features bouts that include Will Brooks (18-1) vs. Alex Oliveira (14-4-1) and Josh Burkman (28-13) vs. Bobby Green (23-7).
