Recent form

Crystal Palace have not won a PL game since Dec 31 Palace have failed to score in their last three PL games Brighton drew 2-2 with Leeds at the weekend Brighton have kept three clean sheets in their last four at home

What has been said?

Roberto de Zerbi after the 2-2 draw at Leeds: "I think we lost two points. "We played very well against a good team, a live team and I am really sorry for the result. "For the quality of play, for the mentality, for the performance of my players, I am really pleased." Patrick Vieira after the defeat to Man City: "Of course I'm really frustrated because we defended well. We needed to defend well against City and that is what we did. I think we did it really well. "The frustration is about conceding the penalty. I think that is something we should avoid and the lack of concentration in that moment gave away the hard work from the players on the field."

Palace cannot buy a win at the moment, in fact they cannot buy a shot on target, having failed to register one in their last three games. It's that stat that has led Patrick Vieira to head the market in the sack race. They have not won a game in 2023 and are sinking faster than any other team in the Premier League. And they look like sitting ducks at The Amex on Wednesday night, but these two teams do have a strange rivalry borne from the 1970s. There might be 50 miles between them but Brighton vs Palace is always a derby-like atmosphere and the visitors will need it to be as frantic as ever if they are to get anything from the game. Vieira will likely shuffle his forward line in the hope of finding a goal from somewhere on the south coast. They have looked toothless since the turn of the year and face a huge battle to turn around their form. They have won just twice away from home, but they have been competitive and have only lost by more than one goal on two occasions - away at Man City and Everton. Brighton have been one of the surprise packages under Roberto de Zerbi, but things may become a bit more tricky for them once teams work them out. Leeds did well to earn a draw with them last time out and they were compact, sat deep and did not get sucked out trying to press Brighton high. Palace will need to do similar, otherwise it looks like being a home banker. With just six home wins from 12, though, the hosts are not a team to pile into, especially given their 4/9 quote. Palace have enough about them to make it a difficult night at The Amex and the recent trend is to back a 1-1 draw in this fixture. But Brighton did create the better chances against Leeds and on another day would have taken the points and they might just edge this one by the odd goal.
