In-demand Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo has shared a massive update on his future on Instagram, amid interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.

Both London clubs have seen bids rejected for the Ecuadorian, but this recent plea suggests that he is doing everything he can to secure a move away from the Amex this month.

This will come as a major blow to Seagulls manager Roberto de Zerbi, who has been desperate to keep hold of his star man.

Arsenal have so far made the most lucrative offer for Caicedo, after seeing a £60m bid rejected for the midfielder on Friday.

Before that, Chelsea also saw a £55m bid rejected, so it’s fair to say that both of the Premier League giants have been pushing hard to sign Caicedo.

Brighton are understandably reluctant to let one of their most important players leave in the middle of the season. They currently sit in sixth place in the league table after a wonderful start to the campaign, with a genuine chance of qualifying for Europe.

Indeed, the Seagulls have picked up nine wins from 19 outings so far and Caicedo has been a major factor in their early success.

He has made 18 Premier League appearances this season, scoring one goal and contributing one assist.

Generally playing as a defensive midfielder, Caicedo’s aggression, boundless energy and ability to break up opposition attacks is what has drawn interest from a host of top European clubs.

Out of the whole division, the Ecuadorian has in the top five for tackles won in the opposition half and also ranks in the top 10% for pass completion. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that Arsenal and Chelsea are pushing to sign him.

Brighton’s Caicedo shares emotive plea amid Arsenal, Chelsea interest

While Brighton have remained firm on their stance that they don’t want to see Caicedo leave mid-season, his recent statement on Instagram, along with an official transfer requestmay force them into selling him.

He wrote: “I am grateful to Mr. Bloom and Brighton for giving me the chance to come to the Premier League and I feel I have always done my best for them. I always play football with a smile and with heart.

“I am the youngest of 10 siblings from a poor upbringing in Santa Domingo in Ecuador. My dream always to be the most decorated player in the history of Ecuador.

“I am proud to be able to bring in a record transfer fee for Brighton which would allow them to reinvest it and help the club continue to be successful.

“The fans have taken me into their hearts and they will always be in my heart so I hope they can understand why I want to take up this magnificent opportunity.”

Despite this heartfelt plea, Caicedo’s fate still rests firmly in the hands of Brighton, as with his current deal set to expire in 2025, they aren’t under any immediate pressure to sell.

As mentioned though, his very public request may convince the Seagulls to allow him to take the opportunity he refers to.

The clear question that remains is… which opportunity? Will he be heading to Arsenal to help Mikel Arteta push for the title? Or will he join Chelsea as Todd Boehly continues his mega-spending spree?

On that front, we will have to wait and see. What is for sure, is that Caicedo is doing everything he can to secure a winter move away from the Amex.
