It might be the British Masters at The Belfry this week, but it is far from the only tournament on everyone's mind. In one month's time, the controversial LIV Golf International Series kicks off in England with a prize fund of $25million, a dizzying amount and over 10 times what the field is playing for this week.

Lee Westwood has confirmed that he has asked the Tour for a release to play, but Scotsman Robert MacIntyre is not interested in the riches on offer.

"I won't be there," he said on Wednesday. "Simple as that, I won't be there. "At the end of the day, there's crazy, crazy money getting thrown at it. If you ask me, it's obscene money to be throwing at sport. There's only so much money that a human needs. "So for me right now, I'm comfortable. I've got a house, a home, my family is healthy. I've got a car I can drive. I have clothes I can put on and I can still treat myself and my family. What do I need? Just now, I'm as happy as I can be in the life of Robert MacIntyre."

The 25-year-old still lives in Oban, a drive of over two hours from Glasgow airport every time he returns from a spell on tour. Asked if the prospect of a good finish in the LIV event, and the consequent option to purchase a private jet to ease his passage, appealed he pooh-poohed the idea. "The travel's difficult, but when I go home, I'm relaxed and I know what's going on. "I'm comfortable in everything that I do in life. I've made quite a bit of money on Tour already. "I've got brilliant sponsors and more importantly I've got one of the best teams around me that I could ask for. What happens in golf happens in golf, and outside of that, I just go and live my life. "I'm just starting out my career. I'm playing on both sides of the planet, America, DP World. So I'm in a great spot. I'm enjoying my golf. Just got to get on with it."

"Brilliant to be back in Britain. The course is playing longer than it was last year. I'm not sure what's happened. I think there's a couple of new tees that are getting used. Last year we had bad weather and some tees had to be moved up. It's a great venue to be competing at and ready to get going. "Last year I feel like it got away from me. We pushed at probably the wrong times, that 10th hole, sucked me in a wee bit and we attacked it. This year we've looked at some stats and we'll rein it back. With it playing a little bit longer, the scoring is probably not going to be as low."
