British Soap Awards spoilers follow.

The British Soap Awards will be airing on ITV1 and ITVX tomorrow night (June 6) after taking place over the weekend, making it the first time the show has been pre-recorded since 2017.

To make waiting for the broadcast a little easier, ITV has released a first-look clip of Perry Fenwick accepting the award for Best Soap on behalf of EastEnders.

Surrounded by co-stars including Lacey Turner, Diane Parish, Scott Maslen, Danielle Harold, Shona McGarty and more, the Billy Mitchell actor said: "Just from us, from the bottom of our hearts, we really mean this, we are thrilled to bits, so thank you to every single person who bothered to vote for us."

"Thanks to everybody else here as well," he said to the audience of stars from other soaps. "Thank you!"

EastEnders' win comes following a change in the BBC One soap's running after the appointment of Chris Clenshaw as executive producer. This year started off with a flash forward sequence on the soap's anniversary, teasing a dead body and its discovery by multiple characters.

The Lola Pearce brain tumour storyline has been a major focus this year too, with the character's final scenes airing just last week.

We at Digital Spy heaped praise upon the episode for its realistic portrayal of death, rather than taking artistic licence for drama like TV and films often do.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
