Browns draft pick Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah denies having heart issues: 'You’ve got to get it from the source'
One of the biggest slides in last week's NFL draft belonged to Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. The Notre Dame linebacker was projected to go in the first round, but ended up sliding down to No. 52, the 20th pick in the second round, where the Cleveland Browns managed to snag him.
Browns GM Andrew Berry attributed Owusu-Koramoah's slide to his 'tweener status as a linebacker and safety, but a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday shed some light on the issue. Schefter reported that Owusu-Koramoah had a heart issue, which is why he fell so far out of the first round.

While that issue may have scared off some teams, the Browns obviously weren't one of them. Owusu-Koramoah went on the Jim Rome Show on Tuesday and answered a question about the report.
Via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com:
"You get news. You get a lot of news within the draft and the process you’re going through. There was something that came up in terms of what guys were saying, but in terms of me, in terms of the personal aspect there were no really heart issues at all. There was nothing that was too ticked off and we went back to Notre Dame and looked at the medical records and everything.
“I never really had any heart issues or anything going on there. You know, you hear a lot of things, but you’ve got to get it from the source."
Berry, meanwhile, addressed Owusu-Koramoah's health during an appearance on 92.3 The Fan on Tuesday morning, saying that the team isn't at all concerned.

Owusu-Koramoah is a big talent. He was named the 2020 ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and won the Butkus Award as college football's top linebacker. That's what the Browns are focusing on as they continue to remake their defense. Being comfortable with Owusu-Koramoah's health allowed them to add a great player while other teams passed.
