Brad Marchand will be missing in action for the rest of the regular season, but he won't miss any playoff games.
The Bruins forward has been suspended for the team's remaining two games for his spear of Lightning defenseman Jake Dotchin on Tuesday, the NHL announced Thursday.
Marchand wasissued a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for spearing Dotchinin the groinlate in the first period of Tuesday's meetingas Boston shut out Tampa Bay toextend it's winning streak to six.Marchand’s status as a repeat offender attacking the lower body of opponents was a deciding factor in handing down the ban, as he'sbeen fined or suspended seven times in his seven-year career.
Marchand, 28, has registered careerhighs in goals(39) and points (85) after playing in all 80 games for the Bruins this season.
Boston clinched a playoff spot Tuesday and will close out the season at home against Ottawa on Thursday and at Washington on Saturday.
