Bruno Fernandes sends message to Nottingham Forest star after shock Liverpool win
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has sent a message to former teammate Anthony Elanga after he made a telling impact off the bench at Anfield to help inflict a first defeat on new Liverpool head coach Arne Slot.
Ex-Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi scored the winning goal in the game but Elanga was another to impress on the day for the visiting team. Liverpool had the vast majority of the possession but couldn't find a way through to goal, only then to be punished at the other end on the counter-attack.
"That assist man," Fernandes commented on an Instagram post that Elanga shared following the Nottingham Forest victory. It was accompanied by a clapping hands emoji.

Liverpool needs to bounce back quickly with matches against AC Milan and Bournemouth coming up this week in the Champions League and the Premier League respectively. Slot won his first three fixtures against Ipswich Town, Brentford and Manchester United.
"I think the only thing we had influence on was ball possession because they played a lot of long balls, so if you then take the ball back you need to go past 11 players," he said during his post-match press conference.
"We had a lot of ball possession but only managed to create three [or] four quite good chances, so that is by far not enough if you have so much ball possession. If you play so much in their half, we need to do much better. We lost the ball so many times in simple situations. That is, I think, the main story from the game: ball possession not good enough."
Liverpool.com says: As long as Liverpool learns the necessary lessons from the defeat then it can be beneficial in the long-term. We should learn plenty from the first few minutes of the game in Milan on Tuesday in terms of what the reaction is from the players.
