Two Spanish sides have contacted Tottenham over the signing of Bryan Gil who could be the first of six dominos to fall before the window slams shut, per reports.

Bryan Gil, now 21, arrived last summer in a deal that took Erik Lamela the other way to Seville. The fact that £21.6m was also paid to Sevilla showed how highly Gil was valued.

However, after failing to impress both Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte, the young attacker was loaned back to Spain in January.

A six-month stint with Valencia did help Gil re-find his groove, and per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish side are pursuing another deal.

He tweeted Valencia have asked for both Gil and Barcelona’s Nico Gonzalez. The Gonzalez swoop is seemingly taking precedence, though once a conclusion is reached, Gil’s proposed return will ramp up.

In what guise Valencia are hoping to re-sign Gil isn’t stated. However, given the player is still young and under contract to Tottenham until 2026, a permanent move is likely to be out of Valencia’s reach.

However, they’ll not have a Gil move all their own way after Romano added fellow LaLiga side Real Sociedad have also lodged an approach.

The presence of two suitors will be warmly received in north London. Common sense would dictate Spurs will be able to pursue more favourable terms if there are competing bidders.

Bryan Gil first domino to fall?

Gil’s potential departure could spark a mini exodus in the final month of the window.

Aside from the Spaniard, five more first-teamers are facing the axe before the September 1 deadline.

Japhet Tanganga, Sergio Reguilon, Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso are all up for sale. None of that quintet were involved for the opening weekend victory over Southampton.

Lo Celso and Ndombele are both targets for Villarreal, though the latter does have other suitors in the form of AC Milan, Galatasaray and Marseille.

Reguilon has been told he is free to leave and a move back to Spain looks the likeliest outcome.

Winks previously drew links with Everton, though that trail has since gone cold. Tanganga, meanwhile, is in AC Milan’s sights, while an intriguing swap deal with PSG has also been mooted.

Emerson Royal too could depart, though only if a sizeable bid is lodged.

Tottenham near signing number seven

On the arrivals front, Spurs signed six first-team stars before July 19. Their efforts to wrap up their business early was a key directive of Antonio Conte.

However, a seventh arrival is coming in the form of Udinese’s Destiny Udogie.

Spurs have forged agreements with both Udinese and the player over personal terms, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 19-year-old left-back will arrive for upwards of £16.9m and will be loaned back to Udinese for the 2022-23 campaign.
