Bryan Mbeumo has already formed links with Liverpool after copying co-owner LeBron James' celebration. The Brentford winger has reportedly emerged as a target for the Reds this summer after he made clear his desire to play at the top level.

According to L'Equipe, Mbeumo is on the radar of both Liverpool and Newcastle ahead of the summer transfer window. In a recent interview he said: "I would like to play in the biggest competitions, at the best clubs. It is tantalizing to see some interested in me."

The Cameroon international, 24, missed large chunks of the season through injury but scored nine league goals for Brentford under Thomas Frank.

He has caused problems for Liverpool in the past, particularly in the 3-1 defeat to Brentford during the 2022/23 season. Mbeumo forced an error from Ibrahima Konate before slotting past Alisson to wrap up the win for the home side.

After scoring, he pulled off NBA icon James' 'The Silencer' celebration. The LA Lakers legend secured a minority stake in Liverpool back in 2011 in a deal that has helped the club significantly grow its brand.

Liverpool has a clothing collection with James and Nike with a new range released earlier in the year. He has been pictured at Anfield in the past although his role alongside FSG is not defined.

He has, however, recognized Mbeumo, after social media users claimed the pair are each other's lookalikes. The reference was made after the winger scored at the World Cup in Qatar with images going viral.

The basketball icon re-shared the post after it had gone viral, alongside several laughing emojis, commenting: "I mean I got work to do in other places too!”

Liverpool's place in next season's Champions League is likely to give it the edge over Newcastle in the transfer chase. The Athletic previously reported that new boss Arne Slot is keen to sign a winger this summer. says: Mbeumo is a decent Premier League player and could well kick on to another level at Liverpool. He would likely be affordable too and would provide some depth to Liverpool's wide areas. If he was to move to Anfield, you can already imagine the transfer announcement with James joining the iconic celebration.
