LeSean McCoy ready after turbulent season in Buffalo: 'It's hard to replace a guy like me'
Despite his worst year on record, Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy is holding his head high entering the 2019 season.
McCoy ran for a career-low 514 yards on 161 carries and three touchdowns last year with the Bills, his fourth season with the team. McCoy is entering the final year of his five-year, $40 million deal with the Bills this fall, too, though just more than $2.6 million is guaranteed.
Yet with the additions to the Bills’ offensive line — the team signed three in free agency and drafted Cody Ford — McCoy has a good feeling about a comeback season this fall.

“It’s hard to replace a guy like me,” McCoy said Saturday at his football camp in Pennsylvania, via PennLive. “I’m a good player and I feel like now, this year, they put a lot of guys around me. The front office got me some big hogs up front. And we’ll see what happens this year. I feel good and hopefully this year will speak for itself.”
While he used to be the main running back in Buffalo, McCoy will now have to deal with a crowded running back room. The Bills drafted running back Devin Singletary and signed former Jaguars running back T.J. Yeldon this summer. Perhaps most notably, though, was the addition of Frank Gore, who the Bills inked to a one-year deal.
Though the addition of a 14-year-veteran could shake some players, McCoy insisted that Gore’s presence in Buffalo doesn’t bother him. In fact, it’s done just the opposite.
“I use age and that type of thing to motivate me,” McCoy said, via PennLive. “My whole life I’ve kind of been the underdog. ‘Is he big enough? Is he tough enough? Can he play in the pros?’ I feel like guys like myself come around every once in a while and I want to stick to that. I’m up for it.”

McCoy’s struggles last season were clouded with numerous accusations.
The 30-year-old was faced with accusations of domestic violence last summer and was accused of child abuse in September, both of which he has repeatedly denied. He was also benched in Buffalo’s loss to the New England Patriots in December for a “private situation.”
Though he told PennLive that it was “tough being accused of different things,” McCoy said those issues are all in the past.
“That’s behind me. There’s nothing really there,” McCoy said, via PennLive. “My team stuck behind me. They know what type of character guy I am and what type of person I am.
“There was a lot going on last year, but I can’t do anything about that. I can only control what I can control and that’s play football, be a great father, be a great teammate and be a great person. That’s all I can do.”
