Bukayo Saka has already given Liverpool green light to sign £71m star

The latest transfer rumours have seen Liverpool credited with an interest in signing Inter Milan star Marcus Thuram. The Reds will be able to make new additions to their squad in the near future when the January transfer window opens.

It has been reported by Gazzetta dello Sport that Liverpool have been monitoring Thuram with a view to potentially signing the forward in January. The report claims that the Reds may have an advantage over their rivals in a deal to sign Thuram due to his childhood best friend, Federico Chiesa, moving to Anfield last summer.

Thuram has scored eight goals with five assists for Inter this season, and is reported to have an €85million (£71million) release clause in his contract. The forward also had 29 goal contributions last term which helped the Italian club win the Serie A title, 19 points clear of rivals AC Milan.

Inter have already claimed a big win in the Champions League this season against Arsenal. The Italian club won 1-0 at the San Siro earlier this month, with Hakan Calhanoglu scoring the decisive goal.

Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka captained the Gunners in the defeat in Milan and spoke about the players he admires the most at Inter. Saka name dropped Liverpool target Thuram as one player he would have at the Emirates, if he had the opportunity to sign the French striker.

"If I was to take a player out of Inter Milan now, I could take a lot of them," Saka told reporters on November 6. "There are a lot of quality players. I like [Nicolo] Barella, he's a top midfielder and also the two strikers [Marcus] Thuram and [Lautaro] Martinez.

"They're good as well, but at the same time I'm happy with my teammates and I wouldn't swap any of them, for sure."
