Bukayo Saka has been passed fit to start Arsenal's massive Premier League match at home to Liverpool. And Saka will also captain the Gunners with Martin Odegaard sidelined through injury.

Another player who was rated doubtful, Jurrien Timber, has also been named in the home team's starting line-up. But another defender, Riccardo Calafiori, who came off in Arsenal's Champions League 1-0 home win over Shaktar Donetsk on Tuesday, misses out.

However, it is a huge boost to have Saka available. The England winger has missed the last two games for the Gunners after picking up a hamstring injury on international duty.

Timber is making his first appearance in nearly a month after returning to training earlier this week.

Arsenal boss Arteta had said of Timber, Saka and Calafiori on Friday: "We’re going to do our very best to somehow have them available. It’s very, very uncertain."

Arteta is without William Saliba after the centre-back was sent off in last Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth.
