Bulgaria pulls out of Youth Winter Games bid

Bulgaria will not bid to host the 2016 Youth Olympic Games due to the country's inability to fulfil conditions set by the IOC.

"The Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC) executive bureau decided that the capital city of Sofia will not bid to host the Games in 2016," the BOC said in a statement.

The BOC said it still hoped Sofia, which failed in attempts to host the 1992 and 1994 Winter Olympics, would bid for the Youth Games in 2020.

The first Youth Summer Olympics will be held in Singapore in August.
