Bullard diamond teams win big over Jacksonville rivals

Mar. 23—Bullard logged dominating wins over Jacksonville in District 18-4A action Friday evening.

The Panthers handed the visiting Indians a 20-0 defeat while the Lady Panther softball prevailed, 12-0, over Jacksonville.

Two of Bullard's Division I signees, David Wilson (Oklahoma) and Ben Coke (Louisiana-Monroe) excelled in the win over the Jacksonville.

Wilson pitched a no hitter, striking out 15 and walking one while Coke went 2-3 with a triple and an RBI.

The Panthers (17-1-2, 1-0) extended their winning streak to eight games with the triumph.

Both Jacksonville (5-9-1, 0-1) and Bullard will continue conference play on the road Tuesday. The Indians will be in Palestine to face the Wildcats while Bullard will journey to Madisonville.

Brooklyn Brannen held Jacksonville to one hit, a single off the bat of Mahala Sotelo, in recording the win in the circle for the Lady Panthers. Brannen worked 3.2 frames, struck out eight and issued three free passes.

Kirstin Malone went 3-4 for Bullard. She ripped a home run and a triple and drove in two runs.

Mattison Nix added a pair of doubles and two RBI.

The game was official after Jacksonville batted in the top of the fifth due to the mercy rule.

Bullard (16-5-1, 3-0) is scheduled to visit Madisonville Tuesday, while the Maidens (15-9-0, 2-1) will head to Palestine for a game against the Ladycats.
