The Czech Republic international, 26, has been out of action since December with an inflamed pubic bone.
He will miss the last five league matches before the winter break but “should be able to play in mid-January”, according to coach Thorsten Fink.
The former Viktoria Plzen midfielder only joined Hamburg from Wolfsburg in the summer having spent just six months at the club, during which he fell foul of then-coach Felix Magath.
Hamburg lie ninth in the Bundesliga after a patchy start to the season.
