Ex-Barcelona defender Ronald Koeman believes that Pep Guardiola faces a tough challenge at Bayern Munich because 'they don't have a Messi'.

The Spanish tactician was officially unveiled as the new man in charge at the Allianz Arena on Monday.

But his former team-mate at Camp Nou thinks that the German team don't have a player who can decide a game.

“At Barcelona Pep had Lionel Messi,” he told De Telegraaf. “He could win a game on his own.

“In my opinion Bayern do not have a player similar to that.

“Pep has inherited a great squad though, and has also brought in Mario Gotze.

“It was very logical to see Pep become a coach,” the Dutchman added. “He was still very young when we played together, but he had extraordinary vision, team spirit and always thought things through tactically.”
