Bayern München gewinnt in Hannover mit 4:0

Bayern Munich extended their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to 19 points as they defeated Hannover 96 in a comfortable 4-0 victory.

Bastian Schweinsteiger made a return to the starting eleven and he made an instant impact, assisting two goals in the first-half as Bayern raced into a two goal lead.

Thomas Muller broke the deadlock on 25 minutes after finding himself unmarked in the danger area to meet Schweinsteiger's cross.

Thiago doubled the visitors advantage nine minutes later and Schweinsteiger was once again the creator, opening up the Hannover defence with a mouth watering pass to pick out the Spanish international who took the ball down on his chest to fire past Ron-Robert Zieler.

The hosts sealed the game on 56 minutes when David Alaba found Mario Mandzukic who laid on Muller who grabbed his second of the match.

Mandzukic got on the score-sheet himself on 66 minutes with a spectacular header from Rafinha's cross.

The first real opportunity fell to Hannover on 15 minutes when Artjoms Rudnevs found himself behind the Bayern defence, took the ball around Tom Starke - replacing Manuel Neuer in nets - but the goalkeeper recovered superbly well to recover and save the striker's shot.

Starke made another two good stops in the second half to deny Mame Biram Diouf and Szabolcs Huszti.

Key players Arjen Robben and Toni Kroos made an appearance in the second-half but manager Pep Guardiola's side had already sealed the match.

Hannover - who lost only their second home game of the season - are just six points off the drop zone.

Meanwhile Eintracht Frankfurt and Werder Bremen remained uncomfortably close to the danger zone after drawing 0-0 earlier on Sunday.

Both have 22 points, three clear of Hamburg who are 16th and in the relegation playoff spot.)
