Burnley are close to finalising a deal for Coventry City attacking midfielder Callum O’Hare and are also planning to submit a bid for Scotland international Jack Hendry, TEAMtalk understands.

Burnley have made several offers for O’Hare in recent weeks but haven’t matched Coventry’s valuation. On Friday, Clarets manager Vincent Kompany admitted the Englishman would be ‘great’ for his team.

Coventry boss Mark Robins responded by saying (via Lancs Live): “I’ve seen their manager made some comments which I wasn’t happy with, but it is what it is.

“Everyone knows he has been subject of interest. Burnley have been there all summer and haven’t gone away, so we will see what the next few weeks brings.

“Me personally, I don’t want to lose him, so we see how we go. I want Callum O’Hare as part of this team, there’s no doubt about that, but if I get that wish or not remains to be seen, then we take it from there, but for now he is our player and I’m delighted that he is.”

As much as Robins hopes to keep O’Hare, Coventry are now preparing to lose him. TEAMtalk understands Burnley’s deal to sign him will be worth just shy of £9million.

He isn’t the only player Kompany wants to take to Turf Moor. TEAMtalk has learned Burnley are preparing to make an offer for 17-cap Scotland international Hendry, who currently plays for Club Brugge in Belgium.

Callum O’Hare could be followed by Jack Hendry to Turf Moor

Kompany knows the centre-back well after coming up against him last season while manager of Anderlecht. Burnley now want to test Club Brugge’s resolve by putting a bid on the table.

Hendry is wanted by some Premier League clubs, although the Clarets hope to win the transfer battle.

Meanwhile, Burnley have reportedly rejected a proposal from Everton to sign Maxwel Cornet.
