Burnley Fan View: 3 Reasons Why Sean Dyche Should Stay At Burnley

With Craig Shakespeare being sacked at Leicester on Tuesday, news has begun to spread that Sean Dyche could be the man to replace him at the King Power Stadium.

Dyche has been loosely linked with some high profile posts of late, but this particular link is not going away. Multiple news sources are reporting the Leicester are looking to Dyche to succeed Shakespeare. With this being an open post it adds a lot more fuel to the fire.

I can see why Dyche would be tempted to join Leicester. In terms of stature they are no bigger than Burnley, but recent history and stadium size certainly elevates them above us at this moment for sure.

Add in to this Dyche would be just 1 hour away from his family home in Northampton. This is probably a bigger pull than you might think.

I have three good reasons why Dyche should remain with the Clarets however:

  1. He has a job for life at Burnley

Given when he has already achieved at the club with little resource, Dyche would have to go on a seriously bad run of form to be considered for the sack. Even if we were relegated I think we would allow him to rebuild as we have in the past.

Burnley have been patient with Dyche, particularly in the first season when we were playing some pretty negative football.

Dyche has also had bad experience of foreign owners when he was at Watford. They sacked him in place of a foreign import despite his good record the previous season.

2. The club has been built around him and in his image

I don’t think this would be possible at another club in the Premier League. Dyche has had a huge say in the new developments at the training ground and is responsible for the supreme work ethic and fitness we now possess. It would be very difficult to begin again at a new club and be given the time to get this methods across.

Leicester are a club with some strong personalities and individuals and I just don’t think Dyche would get the same togetherness from those players as he has built from the current Burnley squad.

3. Leicester fans do not want him

Twitter may not be the best barometer but it is clear that Leicester see Dyche as a cheap and unattractive option. Dreams of Carlo Ancelotti might be a little farfetched but it is pretty clear that Sean Dyche isn’t rated by fans of big Premier League clubs.

He has built his reputation through hard work and as a character he does look a little rough and ready. I actually think he would be a good manager many other clubs, but the perception he has drawn is one of negativity and traditional long ball football. Totally undeserved but it does us a favour in this instance.

If Dyche left I would be devastated but I am confident he wouldn’t leave us mid way through an important season. I’m not sure Leicester are better positioned to stay up than us in reality and they have returned back to their level after that crazy title winning season.
