Newcastle are reportedly “close to agreeing a deal” to sign Burnley and England goalkeeper Nick Pope.

The 30-year-old is expected to depart Turf Moor this summer following the Clarets’ relegation from the Premier League.

A fee between £8-10million could be enough to land the England international, according to a report by The Telegraph.

Pope joined Burnley from Charlton in the summer 0f 2016 and has gone on to make over 150 appearances for the club.

He has also earned eight England caps, with his last international appearance coming in a 3-0 friendly win against Ivory Coast back in March.

Newly-promoted Fulham and Nottingham Forest have also been linked with the goalkeeper in recent weeks.

Burnley have plenty of options in the goalkeeping department, with Wayne Hennessey, Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Will Norris all under contract.

Here is what fans had to say on social media about the report linking Pope with a move to the North East
