Cafe which becomes craft beer taproom at night opens
A new “brewery cafe” is opening in a community centre.
BrewCafe opens this evening with a launch event at the Malling Community Centre in Lewes.
It will be serving up tea, coffee, biscuits, “great food”, beer and alcohol-free options for everyone to enjoy.
The cafe is being opened by Lewes Town Council alongside brewery Only With Love and has an “emphasis on the local community”.

Councillor Matthew Bird, mayor of Lewes and chairman of Lewes Town Council’s buildings and amenities committee, said: “Our values as a council are aligned with those of Only With Love, with an emphasis on local community, sustainability, quality and value for money during a cost-of-living crisis.
"We're convinced that existing users of the community centre will benefit from having Only With Love onsite.”
Food and drink will include coffees, pastries and healthy sandwiches and salads during the daytime.
At night it will host themed food nights be used as a taproom for evenings and weekends: Thursday burgers, Friday curries, Saturday small plates and tapas and Sunday pie and mash, alongside beers, alcohol free beers, hop sodas and kombuchas.
Steve Keegan, co-founder of Only With Love, said: “As Lewes locals, we’re super excited to get our new BrewCafe going in such a brilliant space.
“Our strategy is to work with community enterprises across Sussex to help them turn their venues into fun, vibrant places where the broadest possible spectrum of people can get together to enjoy their social time in much healthier ways.
“Malling Community Centre is the perfect spot, with so many amazing people around it. Great drinks, great food and great events and activities. We’re going to have a blast.”
The cafe is open Monday to Wednesday, 9am to 5pm, Thursday to Saturday, 9am to 11pm and Sunday, 9am to 10pm.
