Callum Smith boxing return date confirmed as Joshua Buatsi hint dropped
Callum Smith will return to the ring later this month on the undercard of the huge British showdown between Sunny Edwards and Galal Yafai. The former WBA and Ring super-middleweight world champion will be fighting for the first time since his defeat to undisputed champion Artur Beterbiev at the start of the year.
Smith endured the toughest night of his illustrious career when he was stopped by Beterbiev at the Videotron Center in Canada back in January. Beterbiev stopped Smith after two minutes of the seventh round in Quebec City, but prior to that he had claimed victories over both Mathieu Bauderlique and Gilbert Castillo Rivera.
Smith’s opponent has yet to be named; however, Matchroom have confirmed that the former Archbishop Beck pupil will feature on the November 30 show in Birmingham. Speaking to Boxing News just last month, Smith’s older brother Liam revealed a huge British showdown against Joshua Buatsi is something that appealed to his sibling.

He said: “He’s back. He’s got the hunger and I think he wants to get back in there. He would probably tell you himself, but I think he really fancied the Joshua Buatsi fight.
“I think he has spoken to a couple of people, not about that fight, but about coming back, so I am sure we will see him back before we know it.”
While speaking following his defeat to Beterbiev, Smith said he would be interested in a domestic showdown with Anthony Yarde
“That’s a good fight,” he said. "Look, definitely, that’s a fight outside the world champions, which is probably one of the better fights to make in the division.
“So, look, it depends on the timing. It’s definitely a fight that motivates you. So, there’s a lot of good, say, domestic fights, but they’re not really domestic level.
“So, it’s definitely a fight that is an option regardless of what decision I make on the future. I don’t know what his plans are. I don’t know whether he’s fighting anytime soon.”
