Calum Chambers: England U21s are ready to take on Germany - 'We're looking forward to the challenge'

Calum Chambers has revealed the England Under-21s side are looking forward to their clash with Germany on Tuesday as the Arsenal defender admitted the squad feel confident they can beat anyone.

England booked their place in the European U21 Championship semi-finals after beating hosts Poland in their final group game to top the standings with seven points.

Germany, meanwhile, progressed as the best runners-up and will now face Aidy Boothroyd's side in Tychy on Tuesday afternoon in a repeat of the 2009 final.

With England being the only unbeaten team left in the competition along with Spain, Chambers believes the Young Lions can go all the way and reach the final by beating rivals Germany.

He told the FA's website: "It's a massive game and everybody’s looking forward to it. Once we got through, we were ready to take on anybody and once it was Germany, it has that little edge.

"Everyone’s excited about it and I think we can go into Tuesday with a lot of confidence, we’re looking forward to this challenge."

Chambers played each of England's group stage matches, which began with a goalless draw against Sweden before the team secured a comeback win over Slovakia and then beat Poland 3-0.

And Chambers added: "It’s a strong team, we’ve been defensively strong and we’ve got a lot of threat going forward.

"This team has that feel about it when you play, there’s a confidence about us from the past experiences that we’ve had as a whole group and a squad, that we can go into games and get results.

"That’s due to the experience we’ve got of playing together and things like the Toulon Tournament last summer.

"That’s helped us get through the group stages, so there is a feel-good factor about us at the moment."
