West of Scotland League fixtures secretary Kennie Young has blasted back at claims from Cambuslang Rangers boss Paul McColl that he ‘doesn’t have a fixture for a month’ after Saturday.

McColl claimed that after his side faces Bellshill in a crunch Second Division game this weekend, they’re not involved in league action until mid-January.

But Mr Young, who is also Scottish Junior FA assistant secretary, says he informed McColl of their fixtures, the same as all the 80 clubs involved in the set-up.

Young said: “I’m in contact with everybody. I have 80 teams to look after in the West of Scotland, and I’m always in contact with them all.

“There’s a full fixture list on the West of Scotland website. He has a game this Saturday against Bellshill, the St Anthony’s game that was postponed last weekend was immediately put back in to be played on Saturday, December 7, and an email was sent to Mr McColl to advise him of that.

“He then has a game against Lanark on December 14, the 21st is a cup weekend and they’re out of that, there are no opponents available for Cambuslang to play on that day.

“I’m trying to give everybody December 28 off, because it’s the weekend between Christmas and New Year, and unless somebody asks for a fixture, I don’t intend putting any on.

“January 4 is the West of Scotland Cup, which again there’s a round being played on December 7, so until I know who wins those games I won’t know who is available on January 4.”

Young added: “Some of the blank dates on the calendar are blank because of cup weekends, and as that progresses, teams will go out, and you can then put in games that have been postponed, if two opponents are available.

“That takes us to January 11, and Cambuslang are at home to Bonnyton, so there are games all the way through.

“The St Anthony’s game was postponed in a blanket postponement for everybody and I sent an email to Paul McColl on Sunday at 3pm, which he replied to.

“He doesn’t get treated any differently to anybody else, and if there are any changes to the fixture list he gets contacted immediately by email.

“If he doesn’t check his emails, that’s not my fault.”
