Cameron Carter Vickers Celtic injury scare as defender spotted in leg brace after Rangers knock

Celtic could be sweating over the fitness of Cameron Carter-Vickers after the defender was spotted leaving Parkhead in a leg brace.

The Hoops stopper was imperious at the back as Brendan Rodgers' side motored to a convincing 3-0 Old Firm win against Rangers. CCV played the entire game but appeared in discomfort in the closing stages after a collision with Cyriel Dessers. The USA international clutched his calf and had to refit his boot during the match but starred alongside Liam Scales to keep a clean sheet.

Carter-Vickers is expected to be called up alongside new Celts teammate Auston Trusty for upcoming friendlies against Canada and New Zealand. But the 26-year-old could now miss out ahead of a hectic run of games in the Premiership, Viaplay Cup and Champions League.

The ex-Spurs centre-back was sidelined for a chunk of last term with hamstring issues and also underwent knee surgery last summer. And Brendan Rodgers will have his fingers crossed that his first-choice defender hasn't suffered a fresh setback that could rule him out.

Carter-Vickers was posted missing from training at Lennoxtown on Friday but Rodgers confirmed he was given a "recovery day".
