Cameron Carter Vickers Celtic sweat for Rangers clash as key defender MISSES training
Cameron Carter-Vickers was nowhere to be seen at Celtic training this morning and looks a serious doubt for the derby against Rangers.
The Glasgow rivals are getting set for the first Old Firm clash of the season at Celtic Park on Sunday but the home side may have to go into battle without their defensive lynchpin. The American suffered a knock to his ankle during the win over St Mirren last weekend but did solder on and ended up playing the full 90 minutes.
However, it looks like he has not trained today as he was not present during an open part of the session this morning, according to the Scottish Sun. Carter-Vickers is the Hoops' most important defender and to not have him available for the derby would be a huge blow.
Centre-half is already an area they are looking to strengthen in with Auston Trusty of Sheffield United a key target on deadline day and he would perhaps have to replace his fellow USA international in the XI, although he and Liam Scales are both left-footed. Stephen Welsh would be another possibility to come in, as would Maik Nawrocki.
As well as Trusty, Brendan Rodgers is looking to do deals for midfielder Arne Engels and reportedly had an offer for Lyon's Mahmadou Diawara turned down.
