Cameron Carter-Vickers could sit out this weekend's clash with St Johnstone after missing training today.

The Celtic defender wasn't involved in last week's Premier Sports Cup win against Falkirk after Brendan Rodgers confirmed he had picked up an injury. Alistair Johnston was also unavailable but the Canadian right-back was spotted back in full training with his teammates at Lennoxtown today.

However, USA international CCV was nowhere to be seen sparking major concerns that he could face another period on the sidelines. Celts travel to McDiarmid Park on Saturday night before a box-office trip to Borussia Dortmund on matchday two of the Champions League.

Rodgers will be desperate to have his first-choice defender fit for Tuesday's Euro showdown and the Northern Irishman will be quizzed on Carter-Vickers' situation during today's press conference.

Speaking last week, Rodgers said: "Cam is injury so he wouldn’t have played anyway. We’ve been nursing him on a foot problem that he’s had for a little while, and the same with Ali. Ali, he had an injection to calm down some inflammation he’s had, so he wouldn’t have been available today either. So those two enforced. Just for today. Ali will start training with the team and then be ready. And Cam we will just have to wait and see.

"He’s had an issue with his foot, and he’s been getting some injections for that. And we felt that the game during the week there, he is just so brave and so courageous, he wants to play and put himself out there, but we have to make sure we look after him as well because it’s a long season."

More to follow.
