Cameron Norrie defeated his second seed in as many days to book his place in the semi-finals of the Delray Beach Open.

Just 24 hours after the British No3 beat No3 seed Adrian Mannarino in straight sets, he edged out No8 seed Frances Tiafoe 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 for a place in the last four.

For Norrie, it was perfect preparation for the Australian Open where he has gone out in the opening round on his only two appearances to date – in 2019 and again last year.

Norrie now takes Sebastian Korda, the 20-year-old son of 1998 Australian Open champion Petr, for a place in the final after Korda beat the big-serving John Isner.

American Isner also revealed that, unlike much of the rest of the Delray Beach field, he would not be travelling Down Under for the opening Grand Slam of the year.

“At this stage in my career and in my life, I always had visions of being able to travel with my family,” he said. “Of course, that wouldn’t be the case for Australia this year, understandably so, I get it. It really was just a situation where I didn’t want to be away from my family for that long. I decided to stay at home.”

The other semi-final at Delray Beach will be played out between world No789 Christian Harrison and Hubert Hurkacz.
