Cammy Devlin has put Hearts fans on transfer alert as he appeared to tease a possible return for Stephen Humphrys.

Humphrys, 26, is a free agent following his end-of-season release by Wigan Athletic - despite bagging 11 goals in 46 games for Shaun Maloney's side, who finished 12th in EFL League One. Humphrys spent last season on loan at Tynecastle and sealed his place in Jambos folklore by scoring a spectacular goal from his own half in a 3-1 victory over Dundee United.

He netted just five goals overall for the Jam Tarts but missed a chunk of the campaign through injury. Still held in high regard by the Gorgie support, Humphrys also remains close friends with some of Steven Naismith's squad - including Aussie midfielder Devlin.

The pair were pictured together on a night out yesterday as Humphrys posted on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Good to see my boy @cammy_devlin." And Devlin caught the attention of Hearts fans by responding: "See you soon brother" with a heart and handshake emoji.

The post was quickly picked up eagled-eyed Jambos fans, who reckon Devlin may well be teasing a return for the former Fulham, Southend United and Rochdale striker.

One punter wrote: "You know what to do Agent Devlin…bring our boy home ASAP!!! I mean no pressure @cammy_devlin but all of Tynecastle now expects you to return Humps to us!!!"

This excited fan exclaimed: "AND HE'S GORGIE'S 29" But this sceptical supporter wasn't so convinced, adding: "You boys are on the wind up - fair play."
