Fabio Cannavaro has warned Juventus that Man Utd midfielder Paul Pogba would be “of no use” to them if his performances do not improve.

The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a return to Juventus. He previously played 178 times for them between 2012 and 2016.

Ahead of the 2016/17 campaign, Man Utd re-signed the centre-midfielder for a then-world record transfer fee of £89m.

Pogba has not been able to live up to expectations in recent years as he has only impressed in fits and starts.

His contract expires this month and he has already confirmed that he will be leaving Man Utd.

Cannavaro previously spent two years at Juventus between 2004 and 2006. He hopes that the “real” Pogba returns to Turin:

“Pogba to Juve? I hope to see the real Paul again, the one from the first Juventus experience,” Cannavaro told Tuttomercatoweb.

“He has to find the reasons. The midfielder of recent seasons is of no use to Juventus or France.”

Elsewhere, Man Utd are reportedly ready to make an offer for Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio.

Inacio made his debut for the Portuguese giants in October 2020 and has now gone on to make 67 appearances over the last two seasons.

His form has attracted interest from a number of clubs with most of the interest in Inacio – who has a €45m (£38m) release clause at Sporting – currently coming from the Premier League.

Man Utd and Newcastle were previously linked around a month ago and now A Bola (via Sport Witness) have claimed that the Red Devils have Inacio on their list of ‘potential reinforcements’.

The report adds that Man Utd have prepared an offer of €40m plus €5m in bonuses taking the total to his €45m release clause but it would require the direct payment of the full amount to trigger that.

Wolves and Newcastle are said to be the other two interested clubs, who are seen to be ‘on the same level’, while Man Utd have an advantage as they are seen by Inacio as a bigger club than their two Premier League rivals.
