Capitals' Alex Ovechkin reaches 30 goals for 12th straight season

The Capitals winger and captain is just the third player in NHL history to score 30-plus goals in each of his first 12 seasons.

Alex Ovechkin has reached another historic milestone.

The Capitals winger and captain on Saturdayscored his 30th goal of the season to help Washington top theCoyotes4-1for itsfourth consecutive win.

Ovechkin, who scored on the team's power play in the first period, joined Hall of Famers Mike Gartnerand Wayne Gretzky as the only players in league history to score 30-plus goals in each of his first 12 seasons.

"It's very huge, obviously," Ovechkin said, via ESPN. "It's nice to be in history. But more history to come."

The Capitals, whohave yet to win a Stanley Cup, sitatop theMetropolitan Division, leading both the Blue Jackets and Penguinsbythree points.
