The 2023 Queen’s Club Championship will once again have a high-quality field as world No 2 Carlos Alcaraz and American duo Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe have confirmed their entries.

Two-time defending champion Matteo Berrettini has already confirmed he will return in June as he looks to make it a hat-trick of the LTA’s cinch Championships, but there will be strong competition for the title.

Alcaraz was due to make his debut at the ATP 500 event last year, but he withdrew from the grass-court tournament due to an elbow injury. A few months later he went on to win the US Open and became the youngest world No 1 in the process.

However, he will be in the main draw this time around – if he is fit of course.

“It’s an honour to come to the LTA’s cinch Championships this year, to a venue with so much history, great champions and everyone knows the quality of the grass courts is among the best in the world,” the Spaniard said.

American Fritz played last year, but made a first-round exit. However, he has enjoyed an incredible rise in recent months as he has climbed to a career-high of No 5 in the ATP Rankings.

“Really looking forward to returning to Queen’s Club for the LTA’s cinch Championships, there’s a great vibe around the event, it’s one of the players’ favourites on the Tour and my game translates well onto grass. Excited to see what this year has in store,” the 25-year-old said.

Five-time champion Andy Murray, who also missed last year’s event due to injury, is also set to return as he has a lifelong deal with Queen’s Club while British No 1 Cameron Norrie is also expected to feature.

The Wimbledon warm-up event was voted the ATP Tour’s ATP 500 Tournament of the Year in 2022.

Chris Pollard, LTA Digital and Events Director added: “The LTA’s cinch Championships and the player line up promises to be very exciting this year. We are delighted to welcome back exciting international talents such as Berrettini, Fritz and Tiafoe as well as seeing the recent world No.1 and US Open champion Carlos Alcaraz make his debut at the Queen’s Club.

“This is testament to how much the ATP players really enjoy the event, having again been voted best tournament in its category and we look forward to another stellar week of world-class tennis for our fans in 2023.”
