Castleford winger Sosaia Feki has returned to Championship club Sheffield on loan for the rest of the season.

The 31-year-old initially signed for the Eagles on a two-week last month but had to return Down Under shortly afterwards.

Now back in England, Feki has returned to Sheffield as he continues to make his return from a torrid injury spell.

Sheffield coach Mark Aston said: “It’s great to be welcoming Sosaia back to the club.

“He has a wealth of talent and will be a very good addition on and off the field, with our youngsters learning from a player that was in the NRL not so long ago.”

Feki will be in contention to make his Sheffield debut when the Eagles take on London Broncos at this weekend’s Summer Bash in Leeds.

The Tigers are able to recall the former Tonga international at any point during his loan spell.

Sosaia Feki background

Feki was born and raised in New Zealand and is of Tongan heritage.

The winger spent his entire NRL career with Cronulla Sharks, scoring 67 tries in 148 appearances between 2013-19. He helped Cronulla win the 2016 NRL Premiership.

In that time, Feki won two caps for Tonga on the international stage. He was part of the Tonga squad at the 2013 World Cup.

Feki made the move over to Super League ahead of the 2020 season on a three-year deal.

However, he has had the worst luck with injuries. He has also been able to make one first team appearance for the Tigers in almost three seasons.

Feki joined Castleford’s Championship neighbours Featherstone earlier this year but didn’t end up playing.

He will be hoping for better luck with the Eagles as he aims to get his career back on track without any injuries.
