Catalans Dragons have announced Mike McMeeken has signed a contract extension with the club until the end of the 2024 season.

The 27-year-old started his professional career at the London Broncos, making his senior debut in 2012. Following their relegation in 2014, McMeeken signed for Castleford, where he would spend five years.

He made 139 appearances for the Tigers, scoring 34 tries. He was part of the side that won the League Leaders Shield in 2017. That year, he also made the England squad for the World Cup in Australia.

He joined the Dragons in December 2020 from Castleford and he quickly became a key player of Steve McNamara’s squad.

McMeeken was part of the side that won the League Leaders Shield for the Dragons in 2021. He also scored in the Super League Grand Final, where they were beaten narrowly by St Helens.

He is currently out of action after suffering a dislocated bone in his wrist during their derby win over Toulouse.

Dragons Head Coach Steve McNamara added: “Mike has been outstanding in every area for us since his arrival. He is a tremendous professional and is a perfect fit for our team and club.
