Catalans Dragons suffer triple injury blow

Catalans Dragons suffer triple injury blow

Catalans Dragons could be without three of their international players for the start of the Super League season due to injury.

England internationals Sam Tomkins and Mike McMeeken both underwent minor operations following their World Cup commitments.

The Dragons say the duo are both “recovering well” and that their recovery will determine their availability.

Meanwhile, France international winger Fouad Yaha dislocated his right shoulder during a training session this morning.

The 26-year-old became the club’s all-time leading try scorer last season. He has scored 100 tries in 149 games for the Perpignan.

Ins and outs

Steve McNamara’s side have made four signing ahead of the 2023 season. Winger Tom Johnstone has arrived on a two-year deal from Wakefield.

Catalans have bolstered their forward pack with the additions of Tongan duo Manu Ma’u and Siosiua Taukeiaho, with the latter also providing strength in the goal-kicking department.

The French club have re-signed France international prop Romain Navarrete on a two-year contract.

Going out of the door, meanwhile, are Sam Kasiano, Gil Dudson and Josh Drinkwater, who have all joined Super League rivals Warrington.

Joe Chan has left to pursue his NRL dream with Melbourne Storm, whilst Samisoni Langi has signed for Wakefield following his release.

Former New Zealand international Dean Whare and French forward Benjamin Jullien have both linked up with Pia for the French Elite 1 Championship season.

Mathieu Cozza has gone to Championship promotion chasers Featherstone.

The Dragons released three players – Dylan Napa, Corentin Le Cam and Romain Franco. Cook Islands international Napa is still without a club with the season just over a month away.
