Caught Napping! Sunderland Chairman's Wife Falls Asleep During Bore Draw With Burnley

As if things can't get much worse for relegation-threatened Sunderland right now, the Premier League basement boys are becoming even more of a laughing stock after the wife of the club's chairman was caught napping during Saturday's home draw to Burnley.

As The Sun reported, Ellis Short's wife could not hold back the urge to fall asleep as the Black Cats failed to break down a resilient Burnley side, with the 0-0 draw leaving the Wearside club seven points adrift of safety.

It was thought that the American owner's presence at the game was a message to the players and manager David Moyes to sort out their act in what looks like a doomed attempt to stave off relegation.

Short had only been to one previous fixture at the Stadium of Light this season and it may be his last based on Moyes' men performance in front of an expectant home crowd.

At the very least, Short's wife won't be too keen on returning, after Twitter users easily spotted her failing to keep her eyes open in the director's box.
