Celtic attacker ready to make big impression as Ange Postecoglou is told key traits that can see star become huge success
Celtic’s summer signing Sead Haksabanovic may still be waiting for his first goal for his new club, but it is his overall game that has helped him make an immediate positive impression for the Scottish giants.
Montenegro international Haksabanovic has shown flashes of his undoubted potential in what is still the early stages of his Celtic career.
Celtic beat off interest from a number of clubs across Europe to land Haksabanovic from Russian side Rubin Kazan and the early signs point to his signing being another transfer masterstroke by Bhoys boss Ange Postecoglou.
It is never easy for new signings to hit the ground running especially at a club like Celtic where expectations are so high that even a draw in a domestic game is almost viewed as a defeat.
Haksabanovic arrived late in the summer transfer window at Celtic with no pre-season, having played his last game prior to his move to Scotland in May for Swedish club Djurgardens.
As well as missing out on getting a full pre-season under his belt, Haksabanovic has had to adapt to a new country, a new league, new teammates and a new style of playing under Postecoglou.
Haksabanovic’s character and versatility has ensured he has already become a trusted member of Postecoglou’s side.
Sead Haksabanovic can soon make Celtic impact
Competition for places in Postecoglou’s attacking places is fierce. However, Haksabanovic showed with his touch, dribbling ability and combinations with team-mates in last week’s Champions League draw with Shakhtar Donetsk what he can bring to the team on a regular basis.
Haksabanovic is not your archetypal traditional winger. However, it is not just his excellent technical ability that makes him a key man for Celtic. It is also his willingness to work for the team defensively and carry out the instructions of Postecoglou with and without the ball.
Celtic will be looking to push on after the World Cup break and maintain their push for all the domestic honours on offer. As such, Haksabanovic is sure to play his part in pursuit of silverware. And there is definitely more to come from the skillful attacker at Celtic Park.
Haksabanovic is less than four months into a five-year contract at Celtic. As such, supporters of the Scottish champions will no doubt be excited about what he can potentially bring to the team in the coming seasons at home and abroad.
