Celtic FC Women's Champions League windfall as Hoops make Scottish history
Celtic FC Women made history last night by becoming the first-ever Scottish team to qualify for the Champions League group stages.
The SWPL champions booked their place in the competition proper with a convincing 3-0 aggregate victory over Ukrainian outfit Vorskla Poltava. Elena Sadiku's side held a 1-0 advantage from the first-leg and finished the job in Airdrie on Thursday night with a comfortable 2-0 triumph.
Now, the Hoops will join Europe's elite in this afternoon's draw where the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City lie in wait. Celts will be placed in Pot 4 after hitting yet another significant milestone following last season's title glory.

Yet while the men's team could rake up £40million from this year's tournament, the women's team will only make a fraction of that. Celtic landed a £334,000 bonus for clinching qualification, while they also pocketed around £67,000 and £83,000 for progressing through the first and second rounds.
That means they've already banked around £484,000 and they could hit seven figures in the coming weeks and months. Teams will be awarded £42,000 for every victory in the group stage, while there's also a £14,000 payment for a draw. The group winner will be rewarded with a £17,000 bonus.
The two teams from each group who reach the quarter-finals will land a £134,000 windfall, with the semi-finalists earning £150,000. A famous run to the final will see £167,000 handed out to the runners-up, while the champions will be guaranteed £292,000.
