Paulo Bernardo started his third Celtic game of the season against Falkirk and turned in another starring role.

The midfielder shone on previous starts against St Mirren and Rangers but still found himself being the one to drop out of the midfield for the visits of Hearts and Slovan Bratislava after the record-breaking £11million signing of Arne Engels.

Pundit Marvin Bartley reckons he can feel hard done by to have dropped to the bench after those displays. But the former Queen of the South boss says Bernardo is already a "top, top midfielder" and is set to get even better.

Bartley told Premier Sports: "He’s been fantastic. He had to be patient when he first came in on loan and obviously, with Matt O’Riley leaving this season and in the St Mirren game I thought he was absolutely outstanding and then in the derby, he was the same again.

“So he’s probably the one player who can find himself in an extremely unlucky position because he got his opportunity, he took it and he was still replaced. But when you bring in a centre midfielder for £11m, it happens. He put on a clinic today. He’s a top, top midfielder and he’s only going to get better.”
