Celtic told Lennon Miller is worth a FORTUNE but they can afford it as pundit hints at meeting over rising star

Lennon Miller will cost a fortune - but Celtic CAN afford it, and shouldn't hang about.

That's the view of pundit Tam McManus who reckons the Hoops should have asked Motherwell the question on Sunday about their rising star. The 18-year-old was the standout performer for the Steelmen as they went down 3-0 to the champions, hitting the bar with a free-kick and the post from open play. It was the latest eye-catching performance from the Scotland Under-21 star who looks destined for the top.

There's a growing belief among Celtic fans that they should pounce for Miller before someone else does as it seems just a matter of time before a major bid is put on the table. And former Hibs striker McManus certainly subscribes to that belief.

David Turnbull's £3m move to Parkhead remains 'Well's record sale and McManus believes Miller will eclipse that. It's a small fortune as far as the Steelmen are concerned but it's one Celtic can afford. And he believes a loan back to Lanarkshire could help sweeten the deal.

McManus said on PLZ: "I think he'll break (Motherwell's) transfer record. At 18 years old, I watched him closely yesterday for the first 25 minutes, the positions he takes, his body position, his ability on the ball, his shot off the post, his free-kick off the bar, he is one of the best young players I've seen in a while.

"Motherwell are going to get a fortune for him, but they need to try and keep him for as long as possible because I think he's their best player. He's the best young player in Scotland for me.

"If you're Celtic, you go in after the game and you ask them how much they want for him. He was that good. If you're Brendan Rodgers or the Celtic board, you go into Motherwell, and you ask them 'how much do you want for Lennon Miller?'

"They've got the money to go and buy him. Even if you loan him back to Motherwell for a season. He's a fantastic young player. Something about him just screams quality. If you're Celtic, you've got to ask how much they want for him."
