Celtic are ‘waiting’ to see if Man Utd will make an offer for Josip Juranovic before accepting any other offers, according to reports.

The Croatia international has come to the attention of a number of clubs after his brilliant performances at the World Cup, which saw him help his country to third place at the tournament.

However, Juranovic has only started eight of Celtic’s 21 Scottish Premiership matches this season and could be available at a good price.

The Daily Record claims that Celtic are ‘waiting to see if Manchester United will firm up their interest in’ Juranovic with interest coming in from elsewhere.

He is ‘on a list’ of players who Man Utd would like to sign in January but the newspaper have outlined the main obstacle before a deal can happen, the Daily Record adds: ‘United have interest in their right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka and any move for Juranovic would be subject to him moving on this month.’

Barcelona, Newcastle United, Roma, Espanyol and Monza have been among the names linked with Juranovic and the report claims that the 27-year-old is ‘also on the radar of other English Premier League clubs’.

There have been rumours that Juranovic could move to Serie A newcomers in a £7m deal but former Celtic midfielder Si Ferry would not understand the right-back’s desire to complete that move.

“You can’t leave Celtic after a brilliant World Cup to go to Monza,” Ferry told Grosvenor Sport.

“In terms of Newcastle, playing in front of 50,000 people in the Premier League every week makes more sense to me. Celtic fans would be more understanding if he went to Newcastle.

“Eddie Howe is a similar type of coach to Ange Postecoglou. He wants to improve players, play a certain style of football – and attacking football – which would suit Juranovic.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Newcastle came in for him, but you do have to consider whether it would be a wise move. I’ve seen Newcastle play this season and Kieran Trippier is their best player by a mile, so does he want to go to Newcastle and sit and watch Kieran every week? It’ll be interesting to see where he goes.”

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag seems keen to keep his current crop of defenders together with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claiming that the Red Devils turned down an approach from Atletico Madrid for Victor Lindelof recently.

Romano wrote on Twitter: “Atletico also asked for Victor Lindelöf weeks ago but Man United rejected as Ten Hag wants to keep him.”
