Celtic Women made history this evening after qualifying for the Champions League for the first time.

Elena Sadiku's side earned their route into the competition proper with a convincing 3-0 aggregate victory over Ukrainian outfit Vorskla Poltava from Airdrie. The Hoops had held a 1-0 lead from the first-leg and they made sure to finish the job thanks to goals tonight from Emma Lawton and Shannon McGregor.

It's the first time Celts have made the tournament and the group stages and comes at a time that has become a further positive for the club in both men's and women's football.

Lucy Ashworth-Clifford helped tee up Lawton to head home the opener on the night just after the restart before McGregor killed off the tie with a clever finish from close range.

The draw for the groups takes place tomorrow afternoon at 12pm with Celtic potentially coming up against European heavyweights such as Chelsea, Juventus, Lyon and AS Roma.
