Celtic Women have been handed a star-studded introduction to life in the Champions League.

Elena Sadiku's Hoops made history last night when they qualified for the tournament proper for the first time in the club's history following a 3-0 aggregate win over Vorskla Poltava of Ukraine. The Scottish club had held a 1-0 lead from the first-leg but goals from Emma Lawton and Shannon McGregor secured their spot in the group draw that was made this morning.

Incredibly it's heavyweights they've been drawn against for their group stage campaign in what is likely to be a seriously tricky time with Celts facing off against English giants Chelsea, Real Madrid of Spain and the Netherlands' FC Twente.

It is sure to be a baptism of fire for Sadiku's troops but they can take confidence from making the competition.

The fixtures are set to begin on October 8 but they are believed to be confirmed by UEFA tomorrow morning.
